Services & Fees

We are happy to answer any questions you might have about our services and fees. We have a portfolio of plans from client’s projects available for review. In addition, we have an extensive list of satisfied clients who are happy to share their experience.

Since many people have yet to experience the process of designing a garden, it is important to understand that a professional landscape design will not only yield a set of construction documents, for the contractor to follow, but also includes a methodical decision making process with you and your spouse, that takes into consideration your personal preferences and your budget to assist you in fully developing your site. Many decisions will be easily made as we guide you through these stages.

The benefits of a professional landscape design are that you will:

  • Have a legal document which contractors can bid on equally – apples to apples.
  • Ensure that your garden is a reflection of YOUR vision and not your contractors.
  • Avoid misunderstandings in scope of work.
  • Avoid costly delays, re-do’s or tear outs.
  • Make sure that all aspects will work and flow together.
  • Think through all aspects before construction gets underway.
  • Have your project installed on budget.
  • Allow you to install your project in phases.
  • Ensure that you will have the garden you want when the contractor is finished.

The best spent time and money on any project is spent devising a logical plan. Our designers will work with you, within your budget, to create a plan that will prove especially useful to avoid costly mistakes, headaches and delays during the installation process.

SERVICES

First Meeting – Initial Design Consultation

The first meeting is an opportunity for you to meet the designer, discuss the vision of the project and collect your ideas and possibilities. The designer will walk the site with you to exchange ideas, discuss the scope of work, review the design process and the benefits of completing a landscape design. The designer will also present a design portfolio and photos of our many projects. A design cost will be discussed once the size of your project and the scope of work are assessed thoroughly. Many decisions will be made in this meeting, therefore all decision makers are required to attend this one hour meeting.

If the design price is accepted and the contract signed, site measurements, detailed video footage and photos of the site are collected to create an accurate base plan of what exists on the project. Dates are then established for the next two meetings. Please note that a design deposit will be collected at this time.

This meeting is offered at no charge for clients within Napa. A nominal fee of $25 is charged for clients outside of the city of Napa to cover commute time and will be waived if you move forward with a design.

Second Meeting

During the second meeting the designer will present to you the preliminary design of your site for review. This is a critical meeting, so please plan on this meeting lasting one or two hours, and have everyone present. Every aspect of this rough draft will be discussed to ensure that you understand the drawing.

Each designer has their own style and methods for presenting this information, but may include photos or samples of design elements such as pavers, arbors, water features, rock samples, etc… Plant photos or lists can be reviewed at this time as well. After a thorough review of the plan, revisions and enhancements are marked on the plans. At this point, everything should be in place for the designer to complete the final draft of the plan. Please note that another payment is collected at this meeting.

Third Meeting

At the third meeting, the designer presents and reviews the customized final hardscape, planting plan and any supporting documents to you. The designer will supply two full size copies for you to keep. Additional copies can be provided with advance notice, for an additional fee of $10 per sheet. Please note that the final payment is collected at this time.

Installation

Now that the design process is complete, and you have a beautifully designed garden, our designers can assist you with getting underway with the installation of the project.

We can direct you to many reliable contractors in your area and help with the bidding process on an hourly basis. Many times our designers are asked to stop by occasionally to watch over the installation, or can offer help with the final touches once the contractor is complete.

Have plans already? Please call us and discuss local installation contractors who are eager to bid on your project.
